Loving Luanda's new face!
It's the Baia de Luanda! breathtaking! Specially if you know how it looked like before! The project that took 30 months to complete and around 200 million dollars of investment transferred this historic site into an amazing site for people of Angola to enjoy. Wherever you look you see greeneries and Palm trees-imported from Miami!
However those green areas are restricted for public access, but my son did not really mind the sign or the guard calling on him to get down, and enjoyed the first open clean space in Luanda.
You can also spot several basketball spots, play areas for kids and vendors selling refreshments and gelato, authorized vendors that is! The pedestrian area is huge! you see people jogging in the late hours of the afternoon and several concerts were held till now. Let's hope the Baia will stay as clean and well taken care of as it is now , and hopefully other areas of Luanda will see the same changes done.
A Chinese couple celebrating their marriage on the Baia, they asked to hold my son for a picture, but he wasn't all that enthusiastic to share their celebration :) |
