Image
March is here and it's packed with celebrations! My baby turned two last sunday! Mother's day and my mom is coming for a visit to Luanda!! Woohoo! So since my mom will be here later this month we decided to postpone his birthday party a couple of weeks, and I did a cake to celebrate on the day of his birthday. I made a number 2 cake, with a giraffe print, since he's all into animals and since he recently experienced a safari trip. We started off his day with a stack of yummy pancakes with sprinkles! For the number two cake, it's really simple, this is how I cut it out. I made two cakes, a round one and a loaf cake. I will post the recipe of the chocolate cake, because this is by far the best chocolate cake recipe you can have your hands on, the hersheys perfectly chocolate chocolate cake! So for the chocolate cake you will need 2 cups sugar ...

DIY bowling

I think It's the oldest DIY trick in the book! But what do you do when it's raining outside and your toddler doesnt seem interested in his toys ( which all were shipped to Luanda from abroad!) and only seems interested in whinning? You innovate ! So we got empty bottles of water, wrapping paper and some balls, and there you go a bowling alley in your hallway! He really enjoyed it for like 30 minutes, then he enjoyed tearing all the paper apart and throwing the bottles themselves! I guess boys will always be boys no?!

Peekaboo heart cake

We're still in the spirit of valentine around here! I saw this cake on pinterest a while ago and been meaning to do it ever since- like any other pin of the almost 1000 i have pinned- but this one looks sophisticated and complicated but it is so simple to make. And having the appropriate cookie cutter you can adapt it to almost any occasion you have and it would definitely wow the crowd! I got the "how to's" of this cake from the following site,http://www.kidskubby.com/peekaboo-pumpkin-pound-cake/, over there they did a pumpkin cake with a pumpkin peekaboo! check them out! I used my own recipe of a vanilla pound cake and a chocolate pound cake, yes you will be doing two cakes in one so if you have cake mix boxes in hand it is even better! First start with the chocolate cake mix Pour the mix into a loaf pan and straight to the oven Make sure not to cook it through till then end, and remove from the oven 10 mins before its time. Leave ...

In about a month, my son will turn 2! And of course my mind is starting to brainstorm to what the theme will be and what cute things to include to make his second bday memorable. For his first birthday, I did as much as I can with supplies I found in Luanda, and some things were even shipped to me from Lebanon. As a special touch for your kid's bday, something that is totally DIY are personalized water bottles! All you need are small bottles of water, some paper and a colored printer  and Voila! These are fun to do and can be made several weeks ahead. Just download the free printables you find online - remember Google is always a friend- and you can use them as is, or if you have some design skills, modify them to make them even more personalized- I had some help in the design section ;) There are all sorts of free printables you can use on the web, one of them are the little flags. I used them as cupcake toppers. Just glue them into toothpicks a...
